Floor Systems

Every building is different- based on your needs and the characteristics of your building Cavale Steel Company will develop the best solution to optimise the space in your building. Adding multiple floor levels is an ideal way to increase the rentable space in buildings where there is sufficient height. *

Floor Systems can be Self Supporting or in the case of Turn key projects, Integrated into the steel structure of the building. We manufacture a range of mezzanine floor systems, choose from concrete, wood or metal decking.

* Subject to local authority and fire authority permissions. It is recommended that client takes a core sample of the existing floor slab as the foundation will vary depending upon the floor system load.

Mezzanine

Self Supporting Mezzanine Floor System

The mezzanine floor consists of steel columns and beams which form a lightweight self supporting grid; a floor or multiple floors are then added on top, doubling or tripling your rentable area. For multi story’s an elevator will be required to carry goods from the Ground to upper floors.

The floor deck itself can consist out of chipboard or plywood panels (thickness 38mm), with PVC or varnish finish as an option, but also a galvanized steel floor or a concrete floor poured on galvanized steel are possible. The standard floor load is 500kg/m2 (5KN/m2).

In some countries a suspended fire protective ceiling is required along with fire protective column casings to fully enclose the steel structure. We also work with concrete technology and other techniques. *

The benefit of this system is that if renting the building the mezzanine floor can be dismounted when the lease ends. Another benefit is that mezzanine floors do not form a part of the structure and in some countries carry a tax benefit.

Integrated Mezzanine Floor System

This system is proposed by Cavale Steel Company for projects where the design and construction is fully integrated with a Turnkey solution. The mezzanine floor grid is integrated into the steel frame of the building. The floor deck can also be covered with a variety of floor types or finishes.

In some countries a suspended fire protective ceiling is required along with fire protective column casings to fully enclose the steel structure. We also work with concrete technology and other techniques. *

This system cannot be dismounted and forms part of the structure of the building.

* Please check requirements with your local fire authority.

Island Deck

The island deck system is designed to gain height and to obtain two or more levels of storage. It uses a different construction method to the mezzanine floor system and the storage units are designed and built into separate Island Blocks.

Stairs can be designed to access the upper levels and for a 2 level installation, this system only needs lights on the hall level making it more economical. In addition thanks to the separation of the islands, this multi layered system has another advantage of fire safety. *

* Please check requirements with your local fire authority.
